GIRL'S RUGBY U16s 2018
The Girls U16s kicked off training at Evatt, with 6 training and a couple on the sidelines. Plus there are approximately another 5 to come in from Oztag.
This is a great start given how hot it was last night, not to mention it being Valentines Day.
Moving forward we have decided to form a joint venture with our friends at Menai to ensure we field the strongest possible teams in terms of numbers and player quality.
Andrea the coach of the U16s was more than happy with the first hit out, as was Ian Langley the Southern Districts Girls Rugby Co-ordinator.
We are aiming to field 3 teams in 2018, each year having a 2 year age bracket.
U12s consists of U11s and U12s
U14s consists of U13s and U14s
U16s consists of U15s and U16s
If you know of anyone who would like to play in one of these 3 teams call Ian Langley on 0400 958 088.
There are still a couple of things to sort out like the team name
> Menai / Oatley
> Oatley / Menai
> Southern Something ???
However it wasa great start to girls rugby in 2018.

Oatley Rugby and Southern Districts Rugby invite all young girls and young women to try Rugby in 2018. Female Rugby has gone from strength to strength over the last couple of years, with new competitions popping up all over Sydney.
You only have to see the success of our National Women’s 7s team to appreciate the growth in this sport.
> World Champions 2016
> Olympic Gold Medalists @ Rio 2016
And more recently Tournament Winners in Dubai and in Sydney last weekend.
Female Rugby is open to all age groups from U6s to Womens.
Typically from U6 to U10 you play for your Junior club – OATLEY RUGBY #OatleyGirlsRugby #Oatleywomensrugby #Oatleygirls7s #Oatleywomens7s in a mixed boys and girls competition. It is not unusual for some of the girls to be our best players.
U6 – U7 Minis Rugby – Non tackle – 7 players a side
U8 – U9 Minis Rugby – Introduction to tackling and other aspects of the game – 9 players a side
U10 – Junior Rugby – modified rugby – no push scrums – 12 players a side
From U11 – U18s you play for SOUTHERN DISTRICTS RUGBY.
> Here the players are mostly drawn from the St George, Sutherland Shire, East Hills and Bankstown Areas.
> Ideal for those girls looking for something more challenging than Touch, Tag, Soccer or Aussie Rules..
